KUCHING: DAP secretary general Lim Guan Eng’s challenge to Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Adenan Satem to contest the state election without using Barisan Nasional (BN) symbol has been described as snobbish.

Sarawak BN Backbenchers Club chairman Abdullah Saidol said it showed how much DAP Sarawak was influenced and controlled by their West Malaysian masters, especially “The Lims” whom he described as the “The Monarch of DAP”.

“Immediately after taking over as Chief Minister, Adenan announced to all Sarawakians of his desire to pursue and execute various transformations either in terms of policies and developments. All Sarawakians by now have witnessed Adenan’s deliveries and his genuine character of ‘Walking the Talk’.

“Lim definitely is ignorant of things happening in Sarawak or perhaps he must be very jealous of Adenan’s achievements,” said Abdullah.

Abdullah further said someone in DAP must be brave enough to advise Lim that his DAP representatives in Sarawak were becoming irrelevant due to non-performance and being in opposition with no substance.

He added that Lim should be more worried about his own decreasing popularity in Penang for not being able to deliver most of his election promises with various tax and utilities charges in Penang increased.

“Worst is that he (Lim) is also facing allegation that his DAP administration has been discriminately disposing up to 66 percent of land in Penang where no more than six percent of land is left,” he said, adding that the Bumiputera communities in Penang were getting frustrated and angry for being marginalised and victimised.

“I think it is the Penang people who should review their support for DAP before it is too late.”

The chief political secretary to the chief minister said not too long ago they described themselves as Pakatan Rakyat but now Pakatan Harapan and “perhaps soon Pakatan Hancur”.

“I do agree, we should a have check and balance in managing a government but if DAP wants to continue to be a respectable and responsible opposition, state DAP should start telling politicians like Lim to mind their own business in West Malaysia and persons like Lim Kit Siang to retire,” he added.

He also further pointed out that the Prime Minister’s frequent visit to the state showed the amount of respect he had for Sarawak.

“We will not budge in order to demand for better treatment from the federal government according to the Constitution as well as Formation of Malaysia Agreement.”

Lim was reported as saying that since Adenan had warned the federal government not to take advantage of Sarawak, he (Adenan) should contest using his own party symbol Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) instead of using the BN symbol.
