KUALA LUMPUR: The country's first free satellite television service was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak here Tuesday.
The new service called NJOI (pronounced as 'enjoy') is provided by Astro and will feature 18 TV channels and 19 radio stations.
It will be made available to all customers by the first quarter of next year. They will need only to purchase the decoder and dish without having to pay a monthly subscription fee.
The satellite service provider will also distribute 50,000 NJOI decoders and satellite dishes to recipients under the Government's e-Kasih programme for free.
