Police shot dead two men believed to be hired killers at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman Road at about 1.30 am today.

The two, Joshua Beti aged 44 from Sri Aman and Awie ak Ringan from Saratok aged 36 were killed after one of them fired a shot at police who surrounded them.

Joshua was believed to be involved in 7 previous murder cases since 2012.

Sarawak CID head, SAC Dev Kumar in a press conference in Sibu said Awie has no previous records.

All of the seven murder cases were linked to gangsterism.

Dev Kumar said police received information that a white four wheel, believed to be the same vehicle used in the killing on January 9, this year.

The deceased, Ting Meng Min and his Chinese national girlfriend identified as Xiao Fen were having their supper with four people at a coffeeshop at Jalan Lanang, and were about to leave when the vehicle pulled over.

A man alighted from the vehicle and fired several shots which hit Ting and his girlfriend at 11pm Saturday.

Ting, in his 30s, died on the way to a private medical centre from a shot in his back. His girlfriend, who was hit on her arm, was reported to be in stable condition.

Police followed the vehicle from Durin to Tunku Abdul Rahman and it was there the shooting took place.
