DEVOLUTION OF POWER
On 16th March 2014, two weeks after myappointment as Sarawak Chief Minister, I haveemphasised that Sarawak's relationship with theFederal Government must be constitutionally correct.
In order to achieve this, the Sarawak BN Governmentat the State Legislative Assembly sitting on 8thDecember 2015 had sought and was given a mandatefor the State Government to safeguard theconstitutional rights and protection of the State in theinterest of all Sarawakians.
The mandate given covered the aspirations of thepeople of Sarawak from the days before theformation of Malaysia as stipulated in the CobboldCommission Report, Inter-Governmental CommitteeReport and Malaysia Agreement 1963.
Pursuant to this, the Government through its officialshas actively and carefully planned a structured courseof action toward achieving this objective.
This course of action involves 3 phases which are asfollows: (1) Administrative empowerment;(2) Encroachment of State's rights; and(3) Oil and Gas Royalty. - Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Haji Adenan Satem's Winding-up Speech at the last day of the 18th Sarawak DUN's Sitting today.
